The Hotel Aichinger is one of the oldest inns on Lake Attersee. Its almost 200-year history is characterised by constant change - and yet there is a common thread that runs through the centuries: It sees itself as an establishment that always offers guests that special treat. This guiding principle has been evident in every phase of the hotel's development since it was first mentioned as an inn and brewery and has secured its pre-eminent position in the region.
Beer was brewed from around 1870, giving rise to the restaurant name "Das Bräu". In 1877, an innovation from France was adopted and the establishment's sophisticated, cosmopolitan image was reinforced with the introduction of the first menu. Rooms with private bathrooms were offered - a rarity in rural areas at the time. And in 1967, the first passenger lift was installed on Lake Attersee.
Today, the Hotel Aichinger is a multi-award-winning four-star boutique hotel with modern seminar and event rooms, an award-winning restaurant, newly designed Attersee Lofts, a Mediterranean pool area, spa and many other amenities. And it is still above all the enjoyment that characterizes this hotel and that guests appreciate so much.
Even in earlier times, our house was a centre of enjoyment, as stories and photos from the former brewery show. Around 1900, for example, there was a so-called ice machine on the lake: to cool the beer in the cellar of our country house (today's Mayers Bar), wooden scaffolding was erected on Lake Attersee and poured with ice-cold water from the lake several times a day. After a few days, icicles had formed so large that they could be "harvested" and transported by carriage to the brewery and down a shaft into the cellar. The precious beer was also stored there in barrels, which were cooled so well that the beer could be kept for longer.
